MC Supreme, Doechii is Queen

She can’t be contained

That night, that crowd, that moment was Doechii’s. From the moment she stepped on stage and the music began, the energy on display was relentless. She was a general orchestrating her army and it was magnificent to watch. I was utterly mesmerized. The size of the crowd didn’t seem to matter in the slightest, there was no hesitation or misstep. Her first show in Canada if I recall correctly was an absolute blast.

I wish I’d written this sooner to recall her exact set list. I’m sure it’s out there somewhere. I remember I wanted to get closer to the barrier to take photos but the distance I was at was perfect. To be candid, the movement and pace of the show was so frenetic that I’m honestly not sure if I could’ve kept up if I was any closer. The pace of her rapping and her breath control was mind-boggling; not to mention she was dancing the whole time! For the first time since the Eras Tour I felt the intense stamina that artists at the top of their game display for their audiences.

Rap shows in general lack a certain amount of punch for me. However, Doechii and her DJ Miss Milan were so in sync, and Doechii’s dance moves alone were so engaging. Her crowd work and her timing of the set really felt like a master in control. She was feeding off the energy of the crowd, and the fans were eating it up, the scale of the show kept ramping up like a dance. There was a tremendous amount of dancing.

I want to touch on the set design for a moment, because truly she brought the swamp to us. I spent so much time admiring it I would forget to take photos - enamoured by it all. The photos speak more than I can on that matter.

As far as I can see, there simply is no MC who moves better, sings better or looks better than the queen of rap herself. Doechii the don, Doechii supreme.
